Statement by top clerics, including Jerusalem’s Latin Patriarch, urges authorities to apprehend those responsible; Netanyahu: Israel will punish perpetrators severely.

The Catholic Church condemned the so-called “price-tag” attack against a Christian monastery on Tuesday, with high-ranking church offices denouncing the “teaching of contempt” against Christians prevalent in Israeli society.

Earlier Tuesday, the door of a Christian monastery in Latrun, the Abbaye de Notre-Dame de Sept-Douleurs, near Jerusalem, was set on fire on morning and anti-Christian slogans were found spray-painted on the monastery’s walls.

The arson and graffiti are suspected to be a “price tag” attack, following the recent evacuation of Migron, a settlement outpost in the West Bank.

Monks residing at the monastery noticed the burning door on Tuesday morning, and called police after extinguishing the flames. Graffiti sprayed on the monastery walls included the words “Migron,” and “Jesus is a monkey.”

In a statement released later in the day and signed, among others, by the Latin Patriarch for Jerusalem Fouad Twal and Gerogio Lingua, Apostolic Nuncio for Jordan, and former Latin Patriarch Michel Sabbah, the Catholic Church severely condemned the attack, saying it was the results of an Israeli tendency to scapegoat Christians.

“The Christian community awoke this morning… to discover with horror that once again it is the target of forces of hatred within Israeli society,” the missive said, adding “what happened in Latrun is only another in a long series of attacks against Christians and their places of worship.”

Further on, the statement asked: “What is going on in Israeli society today that permits Christians to be scapegoat and targeted by these acts of violence?,” questioning why the unknown assialtants chose to ” vent” their anger over the dismantling of West Bank outposts “against Christians and Christian places of worship?”

“What kind of ‘teaching of contempt’ for Christians is being communicated in their schools and in their homes? And why are the culprits not found and brought to justice?” the statement asked, urging Israeli “authorities to act to put an end to this senseless violence and to ensure a ‘teaching of respect’ in schools for all those who call this land home.”

The Church’s condemnation was followed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s denouncement of the act, saying in a statement earlier in the day that that attack was “a criminal act” and that “those responsible for it must be severely punished.”

The Catholic church has been silent so long that I have a hard time hearing them now that they speak.
    I miss Father Coughlin’s radio broadcast’s.

As usual, the silence from the Christian Right and the Pope in Rome is deafening. Just imagine what they’d say if some Muslim had done this. These people need to be like Jesus and get over their fear of the Jews.

Maybe they’ll get 45 days in jail like the Gaza sniper did, and that will represent an important step in the redemption of isrooaeli juistice.

Catholic Church has put a blind eye on the atrocities the Jews have done to the Christians for so many years.
Netanyahu’s justice will be the same as the justice they did to Rachel Corrie, the young American woman who was murdered by the IDF (Israel Agression Force).

My first thought was, at last they’re speaking up. My 2nd thought was, This is about a possession????
A monastery is more important than the ever-expendable Palestinians.

My Church, my heart weeps for your cowardice. You’re too smart not to know that silence is complicity.
Stand up for the people, stand up for what is right — keep your palacial manors & jeweled chalices, but please do not lie and deceive, no one, not even the Pope can serve two masters.

Very good to expose every act against the Church in Israel. Exposing them is one of the few effective, Christ honoring, ways we have in this fight. I understand there are numerous attacks on Protestant churches and Protestants in Israel too. But somehow, I think this evil force especially and particularly hates the Catholic church. I notice the Americanist Christian Zionists and their Judaic associates and supporters love to harp on some kind of secret agreement and plan of the Vatican and the Pope to completely take over the Old City part of Jerusalem. These folk also love to harp on that part of Jesuit order that does indeed appear to be operating in a most evil way.

We the little people of the laity will be the ones who will carry the torch and fight this battle. We will get help and grace from God and through the Communion of Saints, but we will apparently get no help from the Church prelates and hierarchy. So be it.

@Naeem and @Isaac, you are dead on. The Church has been taken over by Freemasons (Pope Pius XII realized 800 within the curia in 1958, the year he died), communists and homosexuals, which turned it literally on it’s head when John XXIII was “elected” and pushed the heretical Vatican II Council on Catholics world wide. Immediately the “Jews” were cleared of any wrong doing (completely contradicting the teachings of the previous 19 centuries) and now each (anti)Pope of the post conciliar church bows to and kisses the kosher keester. They who pretend to assume the Chair of Peter, blaspheme our Lord Jesus Christ saying that the Jews do not need to acknowledge Him as their Lord and Messiah (essentially telling them that they can continue to go straight to hell….maybe they ARE onto something). Point is, Rome has been occupied since 1958 by anti-Catholic/Christian forces, the Kabalalistic Jews and Freemasons who worship Lucifer are in control. THIS is a huge reason why “The Church” has been silent on the complete persecution of the Christians in the Holy Land and Palestine, because their masters will it.

I already posted this on another thread, but I think it’s important people here see it too. It’s only a minute long but sends the message clear as to why Christians in Palestine are suffering their own slaughter and persecution at the hands of these maggots.
