Families of flotilla victims file lawsuit against Israel

Some 33 relatives of nine Turkish activists who were killed during the 2010 IDF raid on the Gaza-bound flotilla file a compensation lawsuit against Israel for $5 million

Some 33 relatives of the Turkish activists, who were killed in an Israeli raid on the Mavi Marmara flotilla to Gaza in 2010, have filed a lawsuit against Israel seeking compensation for their losses, Hürriyet Daily Newspaper reported Saturday.

The families of Furkan Doğan, Cevdet Kılıçlar and Necdet Yıldırım, who were killed in the attack, filed a petition against Israel seeking financial and moral compensation, along with 30 other people who have suffered due to the attack.

Among the plaintiffs in the case are people who were seriously wounded in the attack, members of the press, and nurses. The plaintiffs’ 33 cases request a total amount 10 million Turkish Liras ($5 million) in compensation from Israel.

A Turkish court pressed formal charges in May against top officers of the IDF who are suspected of having been involved in the killings aboard the Mavi Marmara, demanding nine consecutive life terms for four commanders.

The court in Istanbul voted unanimously to approve an indictment against Israel’s former military chief Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, along with the heads of its navy, air force and military intelligence, the Anadolu Agency said. They face nine consecutive life terms in prison for “inciting to kill monstrously, and by torturing.”

The 144-page indictment has been prepared after testimony from some 600 people, including 490 passengers from the six-ship flotilla and relatives of those who had died. The charges against the military officers include four counts of first-degree murder, intentional assault and torture of 114 pro-Palestinian activists.

Ties between the two countries hit their lowest point ever after Israeli forces killed nine Turkish activists aboard the Mavi Marmara on May 31, 2010.

Turkey has tried without success to get Israel to apologize for the attack, and to compensate those killed as a precondition for normalizing relations. Israel has solely expressed regret for the loss of lives.

A United Nations probe into the incident found Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza legally imposed “as a legitimate security measure” but added that the killing of eight Turkish activists and a Turkish-American was “unacceptable.”

Turkey has rejected the report’s findings, saying Israel had no right to raid the ship in international waters and said it would never recognize the blockade’s legitimacy.

I AM thrilled that they ARE suing the bastard-state, and should be suing the USA, as well as Hillary Clinton, personally, for her disgusting role in all of this. The Woman, HILLARY. did say that if they were shot-at and even killed, it would be their own fault.
And of course, the USA did NOTHING when an AMERICAN-CHILD was killed. It’s been worse (maybe, if possible) than what they did regarding Rachel Corrie, because this was ALL ON video, as opposed to what was done to Rachel.
Why is my country ignoring killings of Americans by these horrible folks in the bastard-state, the so-called, democracy(???) of the Mid-East? I find it deplorable, as much so today as did I when it first happened.
My country never goes up against the Zionist state or the Zidiots and Zuppets, no matter how many Americans they MURDER. How is this okay? Oh, right; it’s all based on the guvmen of USA signing a pact with the Ape-Pac (AIPAC), which is another terribly unpatriotic thing.
    How completely sickening.

Murder is murder, whether it is done by a person in a uniform or accomplished by a joy stick wielding pawn ‘just following orders.’

It baffles me that Turkey is now paying it’s dues, probably a pre-condition to joining the Euro Union, or some other juicy carrots of coercion?

What bellicose Turkey is doing to Syria seems to defy common sense. Why would a nation that has had years of amicable co-existence with a neighbor suddenly embrace their other neighbor, who has violated international law, is notorious for lying, cheating and reserve their racist right to challenge international law at whim and legal for themselves (the Jewish tribe) alone.

“Love of money is the root of all evil.” Love of money, in this case, led to nine murders, several which were execution style murder like Furkan Dogan. These nine murders were deliberate, and premeditated, as the aggressive Israeli terrorists had lists and photographs of who the chain of command wanted dead.

International waters are no longer a safe haven.
Following your conscience in humanitarian matters is met with lethal force.
Peaceful protest is met with violence and often ultimate violence.

I suppose a flotilla exclusively made up of Jews would merit a bit more attention from the media, the fixers, the middleman, the translator, the go to can do man.
Excuse me, this is so damn depressing.

To be on the fair side, the parasitic state of Israhell should compensate all and every one of the disposessed Palestinians, the ones the IDF murdered and the ones that are living in those refugee camps in Lebanon, Syria and Jordan.
