Newspaper Publishes Gun Owners’ Names and Addresses

A newspaper in New York has received a wave of criticism from its readers after publishing the names and addresses of all of the individuals with handgun or pistol permits in its coverage area.

Hundreds of residents in New York’s Westchester and Rockland counties were surprised to find their names and addresses listed on a map posted by The Journal News on Sunday. Users can click any dot on the map to see which of their neighbors has a permit for a gun.

The map sparked more than 500 comments from readers within a day of its appearance on the website, many of them voicing outrage at the paper’s decision to make the information public.

“This is CRAZY!! why in the world would you post every licensed gun owner information?? What do you hope to accomplish by doing this. This is the type of thing you do for sex offenders not law abiding gun owners. What next? should i hang a flag outside my house that says I own a gun? I am canceling my subscription with your paper today!!!” said commenter Curtis Maenza.

“How about a map of the editorial staff and publishers of Gannett and Journal News with names and addresses of their families…,” wrote commenter George Thompson.

All of the names and addresses were compiled through public records. The paper also requested the information from Putnam County, which is still compiling the records for publication, according to The Journal News’ website.

In a statement to ABC News, The Journal News said its readers “are understandably interested to know about guns in their neighborhoods,” because of the conversation about gun control on its website after the shooting in Newtown, Conn., last week.

“We obtained the names and addresses of Westchester and Rockland residents who are licensed to own handguns through routine Freedom of Information law requests. We also requested information on the number and types of guns owned by permit holders, but officials in the county clerks offices in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties maintained that those specifics were not public record,” the statement read.

“New York’s top public-records expert, Robert Freeman, disagrees,” it added.

The paper declined to answer further questions about the map.

Well, it is “public information”…what do they expect? Like TUT said, “You can’t have a Police State with an armed populace”. These people would be the first to lose their guns. Big Cities, Urban life. Cops galore. You can see why so many choose to live in places like Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming and the likes.

What’s the definition of privacy? When you can sit on your porch with a cup of coffee and shoot metallic silhouettes from 400 yards with your .22-250 or .243 without rousing a SWAT team. Most gun owners aren’t registered at all. There’s what? 300 Million of ‘em floatin’ around out there, with the market getting flooded from new sales by the millions every year…? New gun laws? HA!! That horse is outta the barn!

Any more coffee, honey? BANG! What?

now the jew media is trying to stigmatize gun owners as if they were child molesters.
next thing you know, guns will be the new taboo and molesting children will be legalized(as the pedophile jewish elite is pushing for for quite some time now,to make their disgusting habits feasible)
if we don`t take action now, soon enough we will be living in a world of FEMA camps for the goyim and an child abusing jewish elite cherrypicking our kids (the latter is already reality, but then they will come for ALL our kids, while we vegetate in FEMA camps)

Why not put the names of all the paedophiles, rapists, burglars, fraudsters, and all those who have a criminal record for all to see? Thats just for starters. What about all those men who have abandoned their wives and children for another women/ or man, as society is more depraved than ever. What about all those men who beat their wives, are drug addicts, or alcoholics, or are just lazy bastards living off the state. Hows about exposing the local politicians and all their scams, and affairs, and double dealing with big business, and abusing their expense sheet so they can live like royalty? When you think that is just touching the surface of society, they should be encouraging everybody to buy a gun, for to live in such a society, a gun is a necessity.

I never thought 1984 would be as out dated as it has become! Every day the Headlines read with such absurdity & rancor as to be only described as ‘breath taking’. This move by the Jewish fanatic ‘Press’ is more than just plain insane. It has reached the outer limits of the most sublime. Printing the names of law abiding people as if they are the criminals??? RED FLAG!!!! And I mean Communist/Bolshevik RED!!! What next? With the constant push by these freaks to fondle and molest children, such as the LAMBDA (Man, Boy Love Association), movies like Brokeback Mountain ad nauseum, this has gotta be the absolute last straw!!! Come on! What a bizarre world they wish to construct all around us, as if we’re just going to lie there and take it??? I don’t think so. To Bloomberg, Feinstein, Harman, Boxer, Schumer, Lieberman, Boehner, Levin, Kerry et al
    KISS MY ASS!!!

Why not publish the names and addresses of all JDL, AIPAC, etc. members as well as all dual-citizen Israelis?

The REAL danger that comes from compiling this information into a map is this…
Any criminal who wants to rob a house can now look at this map and use the process of elimination to choose targets. “Hey, some houses on this block have guns, let’s move on.” “Hey there are no gun owners on this block, any of these houses will be good!”

By mapping out gun ownership all they REALLY did was make it EASIER for criminals to rob houses! These journalists should be hung for endangering the population!

I watch a satyrical, little bit smutty, but funny, quiz show. The host told how a friend of his was invited to fly around over LA in a cop helicopter. He asked the crew why there were constant “pinging” sounds, wondered if there was a fault in the controls, no, said the crew, it`s snipers, shooting at the helicopter from the streets below. Now that is funny..
