A message for Israel and Evangelicals: Genesis isn’t a policy guide

With a dogmatic loyalty to Israel born out of a literal interpretation of the Bible, is the American Christian Right the new Jewish lobby in US politics? Mixing religion and statecraft isn’t just dangerous and unwise. It’s sacrilegious.

By Walter Rodgers, Christian Science Monitor

I recently passed a local evangelical church here in rural New England with a sign that read: “We Love You Israel. Hold God’s Land.”

The sign is part of a wider phenomenon: the American Christian right’s dogmatic support for Israel and the Jewish state’s claim to the “Holy Land.” It’s a loyalty born out of a literal interpretation of the Bible and its apocalyptic narrative and a view that ascribes divinity to a physical place. And this reflexive support for Israel has spread to the broader conservative base and American political scene in general. Look no further than Glenn Beck’s “Restore Courage” trip to Jerusalem planned for this August, which at least one GOP presidential contender has noted he will attend.

Such religious attachment isn’t an isolated theological agenda. It’s at the heart and history of the conflict in the Middle East.

But with a Palestinian bid for statehood planned for September and escalating tensions in the region, there’s too much at stake to use God as a real estate broker. To avoid a potentially violent flash point, leaders must look to a peaceful constituency – not the political ploys – of the world’s great religions, all converging in this Holy Land.

Mixing religion and foreign policy

Mingling religion with foreign policy has a longstanding history: from the Islamic armies of Allah marching across the first millennium Christian world, followed later by two centuries of theologically dubious European Christians crusading across Mediterranean lands. In some respects, we moderns have never escaped medieval traditions. The problem is that these traditions are the foundation on which diplomats are still forced to build.

“Isn’t it unwise to use the Bible to settle real estate disputes?” I asked the pastor of the conservative congregation whose sign I’d passed.

“We take the Bible literally, every word,” he replied on the other end of the phone.

“What about Genesis 15:18, where Jehovah promised Jews all the land ‘from the river of Egypt [the Nile] unto the great river, the river Euphrates [think Baghdad]’?” I said, “Surely you don’t think Israelis have claim to a huge chunk of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq, do you?”

The evangelical clergyman replied, “I am kind of excited to see what God will do for Israel.” He went on to tell me he thought all Arabs and Palestinians living within Israeli borders should be deported to neighboring Arab countries, an idea that has had underground currency in Israel for more than a decade. “God made a covenant with the Jews that the land would be theirs in perpetuity,” the minister explained.

Finally I asked, “When you say ‘Hold God’s land,’” I asked, “which God are you talking about? Isn’t the Islamic Allah just another name for God?”

No, Allah is a false God,” the evangelical clergyman said, lending credence to Muslim fears that some in the West are out to delegitimize their faith.

At the root of the issue is the concept of “The Holy Land.” Although the idea of the Holy Land didn’t exist in Jesus’ time and didn’t emerge until some centuries later, Timothy Robinson, a theology professor at Bright Divinity School at Texas Christian University, noted that “for a lot of Christians, there is a deep connection to earth where Jesus may have walked.”

Israeli tour guides often fabricate facts to gull the would-be pilgrims, Mr. Robinson said. “There is a lot of tripe they feed the crowds, especially Evangelicals.” Israeli tour guides generally ignore genuine Christian holy sites in East Jerusalem like Lazarus’s tomb. That would divert tourist dollars to Arabs and lend legitimacy to Palestinian claims to being the “first Christians.”

The very idea of the Holy Land is a sticky wicket. So many of the sites in the “Holy Land” are simply “traditional,” lacking any historical corroboration. The grotto below the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, said to be where Jesus was born, is a prime example. I recall a discussion I had with one Israeli rabbi who privately acknowledged the worship of land itself probably violated the second commandment against graven images.

Theologically based claims to the Holy Land drive politics and undermine peace in the region. When the US Congress slavishly cheered and fawned over Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, in his recent address to a joint meeting of the House and Senate, it was, I suspect, as much this evangelical Christian constituency that lawmakers were pandering to as to the “Jewish Lobby.”

Mixing religion and statecraft isn’t simply dangerous and unwise; it also smacks of sacrilege.

Zealots and policymakers alike need to shift away from any obsession with the concept of a Holy Land and recognize that thousands of years of worshiping real estate has only produced several millenniums of war and shameful bloodshed. If there remains any constituency for peace, then the angels of humanity’s better nature – charity, tolerance, and simple decency – must supersede the religious triumphalism that seems to be too much in evidence today.

Jesus healed many blind people and one he had to get a handful of mud to put in his eyes. The church today is gonna have to go through the mud to see that the Israel they are lifting up is not the right Israel they should be looking at. The Israel Jesus was trying to get them to see was a spiritual Israel. Hello!!
Romans 2:28,29 please!! Get the mud out of your eyes and see exactly what the truth was. That piece of land over there is not what Jesus died for.

“We Love You Israel. Hold God’s Land.”

As a matter of fact, Believers in the One True GOD have nothing to love in Israel (World Jewry). The jewish God’s stolen land, they mean!

First, the Israelites with Sarai (the menopaused wife of Avram the Coward!) at their head had to declare Ishmael a bastard and his mother a bondwoman for ever in order to STEAL his status as the eldest in the family!

Second, the Israelite God had to lie to make Ishaak the unique son of Avram and the Israelite had to forge the Torah to make us believe in that hoax!

The Israelites got mixed up in a God who asked for a human sacrifice without realising that it was Satan asking for the sacrifice, if that story was true!

Christians and Muslims who came later got messed up in this human sacrifice tale falsely attributed to God.

Anyway, when Britain, the USA, France and the the USSR (mainly) gave Palestine to the Jewish Huns it was not because of religion but because they had a BIGGER PLAN – to rule over the entire world. Jews are just the instrument of the Satanic European monarchy and the International Jewish Bank gangsters to get control over the world and its resources.

To get Palestine is one thing, but to KEEP IT FOR EVER, this is quite another matter!

ISRAEL means STRONG AGAINST GOD, so they say, even stronger than God – ISRA ALLAH – just like the TITANIC!

“No, Allah is a false God,” the evangelical clergyman said …”

Of course Allah is a false God, this is why Jesus cried out to HI on the cross just before dying!

It is not his fault, he and his fore fathers have been brought up and indoctrinated in a WHITE RACIST environment for centuries – HATING ARABS, MUSLIMS and EVEN THE ARABIC AND OTHER SEMITIC LANGUAGES – a heritage from Roman Christianity and Judaism!

Jesus was White European after all, wasn’t he? With blond hair and blue eyes! I love White women (not the ugly ones!) and I would hate a Black-like or Arab-like God! But, as a Muslim colour, class and ‘race’ have no bearing at all in our lives and likes and dislikes – and GOD IS NOT A MAN!

“… from the Islamic armies of Allah marching across the first millennium Christian world, followed later by two centuries of theologically dubious European Christians crusading across Mediterranean lands.”

And the armies were not “Islamic” and definitely not out to murder, steal and enslave. Muslim Spain and Muslim Hindustan are the two greatest examples! Muslims even ruled over Russia once!

    Here’s another message for Israel:
Not only is Genesis not a policy guide, but it’s a MYTH. It’s not history. Neither is Exodus. It never happened! There is no archaeological or historical record of such an event – ever. Not only that, but there was no “wandering in the desert”. It didn’t happen! It’s hogwash! No parting the Red Sea. It didn’t happen! No great kingdoms of David or Solomon. They never existed! So it logically follows that there is no ‘promised land’ except the land that the non-semite people have stolen from the indigenous Palestinians. And there are no “Chosen People”.

Israel is current headed by a Lithuanian Bibi Milikovsky (netanyahu) The vast majority of people currently squatting on the land formerly known as Palestine are not semites and never were.

Antisemitism??? Hah! The Iraq invasion is anti-semitic. The Afghan invasion is anti-semitic, The genocide on the Palestinian people is anti-semitic.

The Bible is a book of forgery, fabrication, falsehood, fiction and outright LIE. Any attempt to use it as history is pure lunacy. Israel is the seat of the Rothschild cabal of corrupt banking institutions currently running roughshod over the world and its economies; creating and supporting.

Jew means “Semite” like Catholic means “Swedish”. It doesn’t. Israel is currently the world’s biggest little terrorist nation as well as the biggest violator of UN Resolutions on the planet. The Bible, the Torah and the Talmud are weapons of mass destruction and its adherents are enemies of humanity.

what these evangelicals fail to understand is, they are merely tools of the Zionist movement, like collaborators, they are lemons, to be squeezed, then thrown away..

I agree, entirely, absolutely, with amerikagulag…

all those stupid and ignorant and dangerously deluded christian jew lovers two things need to be highlighted to them in the hope their tiny pathetic brains actually wake up and listen/understand the truth.

1 – Palestinians were the FIRST CHRISTIANS, and there are still 100,000’s of christians in palestine. yet they support the holocaust of the birthplace of christ, of christianity and of christians. WELL AND TRULY BETRAYING THEIR FAITH AND HUMANITY

2 – BAFS mentions islamic spain. under the rule of the Moors (the term i believe is used by historians to describe the muslim rule of spain from the 7th-9th century. if i get the dates/names wrong i apologise). under muslim rule the islamic population and leaders activiely built churches and synagogues. no one was forced to convert to islam as that is forbidden by islam. all christian festivals/holidays were allowed to happen with the full backing and respect of the muslim leaders. the architecture of grenada is among the most beautiful in the world. it was a time of great harmony and understanding between the faiths.

contrast this with how muslims are being treated nowadays in judeo christian countries. refusal to allow mosques are more and more frequent, people are being ostracised for being muslim, and many are forced to disown their faith to fit in.

SO, let’s all marry our sisters, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters! No more doctrine about banning those abominable practices like aggressive wars, abortion, sodomy, plunder or telling us to love our neighbour … !

Long live FREEDOM! Like David Icke says: I am Free I am Me! I am God!

“2 – BAFS mentions Islamic Spain.”

The miracle of Islam was to allow ecclesiastical and rabbinical laws to be enforced independantly of the Islamic State – a MIRACLE never to be repeated again in history outside Islam!

Doesnt it bother the christian zionists that Beny Nitanyahoo said, about,”we need all the usefull idiots we can get right now” He was referrring to the CZ. but they dont seem to be bothered too much about it. Nor are they bothered about a minora replacing the Christmas tree on the whitehouse lawn. then I really suppose they are not trifled one bit about what the Talmud says about gentiles, that Even the best of them should be killed. Are they that stupidly naive?

@BAFS This artical mentions the name David Icke. Who is he, and/or is it the same one?

I hope it was not a catch question that will make me waste my precious time. I am aware of an International Movement Against Circumcision (IMAC). Female circumcision is not Islamic. As a circumcised Muslim, I will be quite naturally biased while discussing the topic of male circumcision. I never really asked myself why Orthodox Jews and all Muslims are circumcised and I am not a scholar of Islam to give an opinion on this matter.

It is undeniable that Muslims inherited many practices and traditions of old which are not necessarily Islamic. I do not remember ever seeing circumcision mentioned in the Holy Qur’ân, but it is an old Egyptian tradition (maybe even older) that had been adopted by the Israelites and that Muslims have inherited. On a personal note, I would confirm that I have seen young non circumcised youths suffering from all kinds of infection of the foreskin which I have never seen amongst the Muslims.

The hygienic side of it cannot be denied even in modern times where the so-called civilized West have strange habits of keeping themselves clean, like, for example, not washing themselves after going to the bathroom or drinking and eating breakfast without any kind of mouth hygiene or by making sodomy legal when we know its consequences on both body and mind.

Now, let us assume that there is no necessity for circumcision at all in the so-called civilized Western world, but they find it necessary to sell cigarettes when they themselves say smoking KILLS! So, I do not think that the West is morally or even scientifically qualified to teach us anything about morality and personal hygiene. Regarding “mental” diseases they are the worst doctors on earth although they are the best mind controllers of the Age. More than half of their “patients” do not suffer from any mental condition at all, yet they are administered Jewish drugs (most top shrinks are Jews!) that never cure and cause more damage to the “patient”. I know what I am talking about and I have been an anti-psychiatry and anti-psychiatrist ever since I was 22 or 23.

Western scientist decided that homosexuality was a psychiatric disease. The day Jews took over the American Psychiatric Association, a Jew decided that it was no more a disease but a sexual “orientation” and forced upon the rest of the word as if it was a scientific fact. Western leading scientists are liars and hypocrites. I would trust some of them only I have fully investigated their works.

Schizophrenia is not what shrinks say it is. And associating any mental disease to circumcision (as Muslims practice it) is absurd and not scientific at all. I would therefore not trust Clancy D. McKenze, M.D. on this matter.

Autism has many causes, and instead of attacking circumcision as one of its causes, the doctors should rather concentrate on the Jewish pharmaceuticals, vaccines, pesticides and other poisons our children are exposed to since a very early age, including radioactive weapons of mass destruction and other types of bombs (chemical, biological, social and cultural).

I know of only one David Icke, the Great David Icke, the modern prophet who is also an expert on the human “reptilian” brain. Regarding circumscision I believe you should read the works of Pr Roger Dommergue Polacco de Menasce. He is of Jewish origins and he was the first person I heard talking against the practice of circumcision. I would trust him although I may not agree with his conclusions.

Times are hard and I wished I could charge a fee for this kind of consultation!
